从我出生的第一刻起，我就与英语结下了不解之缘。我的妈妈是一位高级英语教师，爸爸也学过相当长一段时间的英语。我本以为这会是我英语入门学习的绝对优势，没想到，妈妈不但没有提前教我说英语，反而比其他家庭都晚了一步—直到我上小学四年级时才开始教我英语。据她回忆，我小时候嘴巴太笨，根本说不出英语。幸亏我后天加倍努力，才使得现在的我不仅英语基础很好，而且成为了一个伶牙俐齿，能说会道的小姑娘。所以我给你们的第一条经验是：There’s no satiety in study.—学无止境。

总结这几年我的英语学习，可以用一句话概括：练遍听说读写，尝尽酸甜苦辣。你也许会问：“此话怎讲？”针对酸甜苦辣，我基本上有以下方法：

1．听英文歌曲，听“VOA Special English Program”, 听“Family Album USA”（《走遍美国》），听各种发音纯正的英文美文磁带；听英文电影中的经典对白等。

2．与自己说，与家人说，与朋友说，或者找老外说。说的时间多运用地道的口语，要不怕犯错。

3．常练朗读，培养语感。模仿并跟读英语磁带，阅读原版英文名篇名著，有必要时要背诵其中精彩的句段。

4．经常练写英文日记。定期写规定字数的大作文，有意用上最近学会的生词和短语等。除了这些，为了提高我的听说能力，我还经常练习给电影配音，练习口头表达能力。 当然，经过这么多的努力，我不仅对英语产生了浓厚的兴趣，而且还在这方面取得了一些喜人的成绩。

              所以，根据以上所列，我想我的第二条经验是：Practice makes perfect.—熟能生巧。

       说了这么多小方法，其实他们都不是我学习英语的精髓所在。我想，真正最重要的还是得要有毅力。你要有放弃玩耍，埋头苦学的决心；要有碰到挫折，永不言败的魄力；还要有循序渐进，坚持到底的恒心。这些不仅是学好英语所需要的，而且是做好任何事都需要的。所以，我要说的第三条经验是：Nothing is impossible to a willing heart.—世上无难事，只怕有心人。

       最后，我还要感谢我的父母、老师对我在英语方面的指导和帮助。如果没有他们，我想我不会做到今天的这一切。当然，我会一直向更高的要求靠近，不断地完善和提高我的英语水平，因为我知道，山外有山，人外有人。但是我相信，当机会来临的时候，我已经准备好了。亲爱的同学们，你们准备好了吗？

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, my topic today is “Being simple.”

      Have you ever longed for a romantic life like that of Romeo and Juliet, or expected a life full of extravagance like a princess or a prince? Well, I’d like to advocate a kind of life swelled with simplicity, serenity and innocence.

      A simple life doesn’t mean a boring life. If boredom is considered as a desert, then simplicity is like an oasis in it, which will offer you infinite joy and comfort. Sip a mouthful of refined tea when you’re weary, enjoy some stimulating novels when you’re idle, have a chat with your family or friends when you’re lonely. These don’t have anything in common with those typical modern lifestyle such as traveling, surfing the net or throwing parties, but there’s unique beauty deep inside, which I love the most. And the beauty brings you closer to a cosmic truth. They can release you from the prison of this complicated society and give food to your spirit.

       After all, it is all the state of mind. The better I’m aware of the beauty of being simple, the more aspirations I have to chase after it. Gradually it occurs to me that simplicity is embraced by the angle of grace. It doesn’t happen in a flash, but is just like a jar of wine that has been brewed for thousands of years. The overwhelming aroma won’t seep out until the wind of simplicity lifts the lid of the jar. I love being simple. Because in my simple, but colorful life, my story can be splendid and wondrous.
